In 2018, CORE studio released Asterisk, a first of its kind full stack application for designing the structure of buildings automatically (in steel or concrete) provided a building envelope.
Analysis Service
The Asterisk solver lives on the cloud. I made an analysis service which provided light, quantified feedback (scores) on the structural feasibility of the form. It also was able to discretize connected massing to ensure that they were appropriately analyzed, such as determining the slenderness ratio of submasses.
Grasshopper Plugin
Asterisk fits neatly into your parametric design workflow with smart caching and asyncronous solving. You can send form to Asterisk directly from grasshopper.
